A fabulous statement plant, very easy to care for. Also called the ‘swiss cheese plant’ because of the holes and splits that occur in the leaves as the plant matures.
A natural climber, it can be trained using stakes or up a moss pole to achieve height.
Taking care of your Monstera.
The Monstera houseplant enjoys a warm, humid environment, a good amount of water and gentle sunlight. Place your Monstera where it can receive medium to bright indirect light. While it is tolerant of lower light conditions, you may notice leggy growth as a result, so a spot where it will receive bright indirect light a few feet removed from a southern, western, or eastern facing window is ideal.
The leaves will split when the plant matures and is placed in ideal light conditions. If the plant becomes a bit ‘leggy’ it probably needs more light.
